Abstract

Background: Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a malignant soft tissue neoplasm characterized by slow growth, local invasion, and a predilection for the dermal layer of the skin. Although it can occur anywhere on the body, the most common sites are the trunk and extremities. DFSP of the breast is extremely rare, with only a few cases reported in the literature. Case presentation: We report the case of a 24-year-old female patient diagnosed with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans of the breast. The patient underwent wide local excision of the tumor with negative surgical margins. At 6 months after treatment, no recurrence or metastasis has been observed. Conclusion: DFSP may exhibit histopathological features that can be easily confused with other spindle cell tumors commonly encountered in the breast. Therefore, accurate diagnosis can be challenging in clinical practice. Diagnosis requires the integration of histopathological findings and immunohistochemical analysis.
