Abstract

Background: Postgraduate training is an urgent task, which needs to be improved in quality, internationally accessible and in line with the new requirements of society and profession. Therefore, the research was carried out to describe the competencies, training needs and to find out some factors related to the training needs of postgraduate students at University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University. Materials and method: A cross-sectional study was implemented in 367 graduate students at University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hue University from July to December 2023. Data were collected by direct interviewing based on a structured questionnaire, including demographic, scientific research skills and training needs in scientific research. Results: 65.1% of graduate students have a need for scientific research training. Some factors related to the need for scientific research training include university diplomas, postgraduate training subjects, and assessment of scientific research capacity. Conclusion: The demand for postgraduate scientific research training is relatively high. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage students to participate in advanced courses in scientific research.
