Abstract
Background: Gleason grading system plays an essential role in prognostic for patients with prostatic adenocarcinoma. The 2019 International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) Consensus Conference gave some updates in reporting prostate cancer. Evaluation of ISUP grade group on core biopsy and on radical prostatectomy specimens are not completely the same.
Objective: To compare the ISUP 2019 grade group of prostatic adenocarcinoma on core biopsy and on radical prostatectomy specimens.
Materials and methods: A descriptive analysis of 121 cases diagnosed with prostatic adenocarcinomas which have both core biopsy and radical prostatectomy specimens at Binh Dan Hospital from 01/2022 to 12/2023. Assess 2019 ISUP grade group on biopsy and radical prostatectomy specimens.
Results: The concordance between biopsy and radical prostatectomy specimens on 2019 ISUP grade group 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 were 40%, 47.06%, 87.50%, 27.78% and 57.14%, respectively, with a moderate level of agreement (κ = 0.42). The highest level of concordance was in grade group 3 (87.50%) and the lowest was in grade group 4 (27.78%).
Conclusion: The concordance between biopsy and radical prostatectomy specimens on 2019 ISUP was relatively low.
