Abstract

Background: Low back pain is an acute or chronic pain that can occur in all ages and professions, affecting the quality of life of patients. Objectives: to investigate the characteristics of kidney organ function according to traditional medicine and to learn some factors related to the characteristics of kidney organ function in patients with low back pain. Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 150 patients who were diagnosed with low back pain and were treated at the Thua Thien Hue Traditional Medicine Hospital from October 2022 to October 2023. Results: Patients suffering from low back pain have a 52.7% occurrence of kidney function deficiency, in which kidney yin deficiency represents the highest percentage at 32.0%. The relationship between kidney organ function and age, disease duration, pain intensity as measured by visual analog scales (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index, and sleep quantity and quality (p<0.05). Conclusion: Patients experiencing low back pain frequently exhibit a correlation with kidney organ function, particularly kidney yin deficiency.
