Abstract
Background: Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a prevalent digestive disease in the world and Vietnam, the prevalence rate is about 13.98%. Although gastroesophageal reflux disease rarely leads to death, it significantly affects the patient’s quality of life. Subjects and Methods: The study was conducted on 150 patients with clinical symptoms suggesting GERD and a Gerd-Q score ≥ 8 or clinical symptoms suggesting GERD and a Gerd-Q score < 8 but with endoscopic evidence of reflux esophagitis. Study results: The average Gerd-Q score for the group with scores ≥ 8 was 10.18 ± 1.99, and the overall average for all study subjects was 9.10±2.84. Endoscopic findings classified according to the Los Angeles (LA) classification were as follows: grade A at 78.7%, grade B at 20.0%, and grade C at 1.3%. There is a correlation between the Gerd-Q score and esophagitis lesions observed on endoscopy. Conclusion: There is a correlation between the Gerd-Q score and prolonged GERD symptoms with esophagitis lesions on endoscopy. Early endoscopy should be considered for patients with prolonged GERD symptoms and high Gerd-Q scores.Published | 2024-12-25 | |
