Abstract
Background: Maxillofacial traumas are common injury in the traumas and directly affects the facial aesthetics, occlusal function of the patients and communication function. This study aims to assess clinical and factors related to maxillofacial traumas and evaluate the results of treatment of maxillofacial injuries.
Materials and methods: descriptive study, advanced research on 60 patients had facial injuries at Department of ENT - Ophthalmology - Odonto Stomatology and Maxillofacial Surgery, Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy between 10/2022 and 6/2023.
Results: The male/female ratio is about 5.67/1, the common age ranged from 18 to 39 years (61.67%). The main cause is traffic accidents (85%). Soft tissue injury has 58 cases (96.67%) in which the highest concussion injury accounts for 39.33%. The maxillofacial fractures had 48 cases, mainly the isolated fractures and most of which were the zygomaticomaxillary fractures with 60.41%.
Conclusions: Maxillofacial trauma is common in men, mainly caused by traffic accidents and often combined with soft tissue injuries and fractures, contusion is the most common soft tissue injury and zygomaticomaxillary fracture is the most common fractures.
