Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the delivery outcomes in pregnant women who were used Oxytocin in the first stage at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Materials and method: A cross-sectional description of 68 pregnant women who were used Oxytocin in the first stage at Delivery department of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital from 4/2022 to 4/2023. Results: The rate of augmentation by oxytocin was 48,6%. The cesarean section rate was 41%, mostly due to the cervix stops dilating. The average monitoring time from the time of using Oxytocin to to achieve effective contraction frequency in the nulliparars group was 1,5 ± 1,3 (hours), the multiparas group was 1,5 ± 1,3 (hours). The maximum dose of oxytocin to achieve effective contraction frequency in the nulliparars group was 10-15 drops/min, in the multiparas group was < 10 drops/min. The more cervix dilation, the less maximum dose of Oxytocin required to achieve effective uterine contractions (p = 0,006). Cases of ruptured membranes required fewer maximum dose of Oxytocin to achieve effective uterine contractions than unruptured membranes (p = 0.002). The more cervix dilation, the faster the time to achieve effective uterine contractions (p = 0,025). Conclusion: Parity, rupture of membranes and the cervix dilation are related to the maximum dose of Oxytocin and the time to achieve effective uterine contractions.
